St. Joseph Medical Center Wins Consumer Choice Award
St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma is a co-winner of the 2011-2012 Consumer Choice Award based on a survey of Tacoma-area residents by National Research Corp. The prestigious annual award goes only to hospitals that consumer research indicates have the best image and reputation in their markets.
The National Research Corp., sponsor of the award, and Modern Healthcare magazine, a national trade publication, announced the award winners in all U.S. markets today.
This is the 12th time that St. Joseph Medical Center has earned the Consumer Choice Award since the recognition program began 16 years ago. The Franciscan Health System hospital is a co-recipient of the award in Tacoma/Pierce County this year.
"The Consumer Choice Award is a testament to our focus on patient-centered care and patient satisfaction," said Syd Bersante, president of St. Joseph Medical Center. "The award acknowledges the special dedication and superior skill that distinguish our physicians, nurses and our other staff members."
To determine award winners in more than 250 markets across the nation., Lincoln, Neb.-based National Research Corp. asked consumers in 250,000 households to identify the hospitals they perceive as having the best doctors, best nurses, the best image and reputation, and those which provide quality care.
"I am very proud of our team and our commitment to excellence, every day," Bersante said.
