Pacific Medical Centers, Franciscan Partner To Serve Military Families In South Sound
Pacific Medical Centers (PacMed) announced today that eligible military families and retirees living in Pierce County have more options for receiving health care, thanks to a partnership with the Tacoma-based Franciscan Medical Group.
PacMed is one of only six health care organizations nationally that sponsor the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan (USFHP), a Department of Defense health care option available to military family members in six areas across the United States, including the Puget Sound area.
"This new partnership will further expand Pacific Medical Centers’ USFHP presence in the South Sound, where we know many veterans live or work,” said Harvey Smith, CEO of PacMed. "We chose to work with Franciscan as that organization’s health care delivery system closely aligns with our own ‘medical home’ approach, a team-based model of continuous and coordinated care designed and centered on the patient's needs.”
This partnership with Franciscan will allow thousands of military families additional options for healthcare providers.
"We are pleased to be able to offer military and veteran families care close to home through this partnership with PacMed,” said Stephen Spare, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer of the Franciscan Medical Group". "The South Sound has one of the highest populations of current and retired military families. We look forward to working with PacMed to provide high value health care options.”
Through this partnership, PacMed's USFHP members will have access to the physicians and other professional providers of the Franciscan Medical Group who represent a broad range of medical specialties. Franciscan Medical Group clinics are located throughout Pierce, South King and South Kitsap counties.
