O’Connor Named Chief Operating Officer Of Franciscan Medical Group
Peter F. O'Connor, PhD, MPH, was recently named chief operating officer for the Franciscan Medical Group, a premier network of primary-care and specialty-care clinics, physicians and other professional providers in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties.
He was formerly with the TRICARE Puget Sound Multi-Service Market Office in Tacoma. There, he served as chief operating officer and executive director of 12 Army, Navy and Air Force medical treatment facilities covering nine military installations, three hospitals, nine outpatient clinics, and an eligible care population of more than 300,000 beneficiaries.
TRICARE is the health care program serving active and retired military service members and their families.
O'Connor's distinguished active military career spans 29 years, during which he held multiple operational leadership positions in health care administration with oversight for facilities and physician practices, as well as outpatient services. His previous leadership posts have included chief operating officer for Navy Medicine East. Based in Portsmouth, VA, this integrated health care delivery system includes 10 hospitals, 10 Navy Health clinics, and 52 branch medical clinics located throughout the eastern and southeastern U.S., Europe and parts of the Middle East.
He holds a PhD degree in health services administration from The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management, a master's of public health degree in health services administration from the Yale School of Public Health, and a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He also has several fellowships in health care leadership and is the recipient of multiple military awards and honors.
