New St. Clare Garden Café Opens September 9

In an effort to improve patient meal selection and enhance the overall dining experience, the St. Clare Hospital’s café has been undergoing extensive remodeling and updates that is nearing its final stretch before its scheduled 7 a.m. reveal on Monday, September 9, 2013.

Upon its re-opening after three-months of construction, it will also feature a new name: the St. Clare Garden Café. The name, which replaces Café Lakewood, is reflective of the more healthy, locally sourced and scratch-cooked menu options that will be available each day.

Patients and visitors may also look forward to new offerings such as fire-roasted flatbread pizza, roast chicken, baked mac n’ cheese, French onion soup, house-roasted deli meats, tossed-to-order salads, and much, much more.

In the kitchen, new walk-in refrigerators and a freezer have been installed, and cooking equipment has been updated. New drains and pipes have been installed into concrete floors – newly re-tiled – and the physical equipment layout has also been re-worked to increase overall efficiencies.

In the Café, final checklist items include installation of new seating booths, lighting fixtures, equipment, artwork and final wall paint.

The current, temporary café will be closed from Saturday, August 24 through Sunday, September 8. During this time, the espresso bar will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, with a limited menu offering.
