Today, obesity is rightly recognized as a medical disease. Many insurance plans will help cover the costs of weight loss surgery, but coverage varies according to your medical history and individual insurance benefits. St. Francis Weight Loss Surgery Clinic is part of Franciscan Medical Group, which accepts most major insurance plans in the South Sound region. We will do all we can to support you in researching your insurance options. Our billing coordinator will gladly help answer any questions you may have and will work with you on the coverage process.
To begin, you should contact your insurance provider and ask them if your policy offers benefits for obesity and weight loss surgery. Ask for a description of your benefits related to weight loss surgery in general and if there are any criteria you need to meet for coverage to become effective.
If you are interested in paying for the procedure yourself (self-pay), you can expect to pay charges such as:
