Women's Auxiliary
The St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary is a women’s organization whose members share one common purpose: raising funds to provide services, programs and equipment for St. Francis Hospital and its patients.
Because Franciscan Health System is a nonprofit organization, these monies can help fund special activities and projects that are not included in St. Francis Hospital's annual budgets. Through this support, the Auxiliary helps St. Francis fulfill its mission of promoting healthier communities.
Meetings and events
The Auxiliary’s General Meeting is held from 7 – 8:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month (September thru May).
Meeting schedule:
6:30 – 7 p.m. Social meet and greet with refreshments
7 – 7:30 p.m. Auxiliary business
7:30 – 8:30 p.m. Featured speaker or project
Most of the Auxiliary’s fundraising events are held in the evenings; many are so popular that they’ve become annual activities. The list includes:
- Annual Spring Fashion Show
- Girls’ Night Out Bunco (January)
- Summer Social (August)
Service through philanthropy
The St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary was formed in February 1987, and has raised more than $100,000 to fund equipment requests, special programs and other needs important to St. Francis and its patients. The Auxiliary’s membership roster represents a diverse group of women from throughout the community, ranging in ages and interests. A five-member Governing Board heads the Auxiliary, and is authorized to create standing committees according to the needs of the organization.
Each month, Auxiliary members meet to identify, organize and ultimately host a variety of fundraising activities. The monies raised from these activities are funneled directly into St. Francis Hospital, earmarked for specific projects, equipment or patient care programs.
The Auxiliary’s Philanthropy Committee reviews funding requests submitted from hospital staff, and then recommends to the Auxiliary at-large how the dollars should be allocated. Some examples include:
- x-ray screens
- IV pumps for the emergency department
- Healing Garden fountain
- Portable vital sign machine
- Music and Healing program
- Blood pressure monitor for the cardiopulmonary department
- The Women’s Health & Breast Center’s breast cancer awareness campaign
