This is a new program at Franciscan! Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a life-skills practice that has been in existence for 25 years, will help you to pay attention to what is happening inside of you and around you. Franciscan Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, developed by Neurologist John Wendt, MD, is based upon the work of Dr. John Kabat-Zinn. Dr. Wendt will lead this course that will teach you to practice these skills in your life. The course consists of eight evening classes and one all day Saturday retreat. All registrants will receive a course notebook and compact discs at the first full session. The Franciscan MBSR course is conducted in a 1-hour orientation, eight, 2.5- hour weekly classes, a 7-hour Saturday retreat, and includes guided instruction on
- sitting meditation
- body scan
- gentle hatha yoga
- walking meditation
