St. Elizabeth stays connected for improved patient care and safety
To streamline care and ensure patient safety, staff at St. Elizabeth uses an electronic health record system to enhance both the quality of care and each patient’s experience. Physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other caregivers log on to the computerized health record to document their patients’ test results, medications, physician orders, vital signs and other information essential to health and well-being.
In addition, St. Elizabeth utilizes a bedside medication verification (BMV) program that allows caregivers to employ bar code scanning technology prior to administering medications to confirm patient identity and medication information. The program processes data related to safe administration through the “Five Rights” of medication management: right patient, right medication, right dosage, right route, and right time.
