Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care

Hospice Should you or a family member find yourself living with an advanced illness, you need to know that someone will support you and provide care through the changes and challenges at the end of life.

Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care is the largest, most comprehensive provider of hospice care in the South Puget Sound. Our goal is to help persons with advanced illnesses, when curative treatment is no longer effective or desired, to live each day with comfort and meaning and to retain their individuality and control over their lives.

We do not have a rigid model of care. By its nature, hospice care is flexible; every person is unique, and our care programs are adapted to suit each individual's physical, emotional and spiritual needs. While we are pain management experts—and place a very high emphasis on comfort—Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care also offers many types of practical and meaningful support.

The Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care team is made up of highly trained professionals and volunteers, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, hospice chaplains, certified nurses' aides and grief counselors, as well as massage, music and art therapists.

The team works to meet the physiological, psychological, social, spiritual and economic needs of people facing the end of life. We collaborate with a patient's physician to develop a plan of care based on the needs of the patient and family, with a focus on effective pain management, symptom control and the quality of remaining life.
