Dr. Clerc ultilizes the latest in scientific technologies to practice cutting edge sleep disorder medicine. He pracitces comprehensive sleep medicine, treating all aspects of the sleep process while focusing on the entire patient. Believing that an excellent education in the clinic setting is the cornerstone of patient empowerment and a key aspect of good health, Dr. Clerc will take the time to explain the sleep process, how it might become dysfunctional, and will provide answers to all of your questions. While there are many sleep disorders, the most common include obstructive sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, parasomnias, and circadian rhythm abnormalities. Dr. Clerc has a special interest in the relationships between sleep disorders and the metabolic apsects of diabetes and obesity, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, abnormal cardiac rhythms, hypertension, and stroke. He also recognizes the strong association between sleep abnormalities and many mood disorders — including depression and anxiety disorders, recurrent headaches, migraines, and chronic pain syndromes. While his patients can present with a variety of needs ranging from pre-operative evaluation of potential underlying sleep disorders to ongoing difficulties losing weight…the most common reasons for initial sleep disorder evaluation include complaints of insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness/fatigue, sensations of sleepiness while driving, nonrestorative sleep, snoring, and/or the recent diagnosis of a medical disorder that is strongly associated with sleep abnormalities. Dr. Clerc will see all adults and children down to 8 years old. He notes that sleep disorders in children often manifest as sleepiness, inattention, learning difficulties, attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). When not practicing medicine Dr. Clerc loves spending time with his wife and children. He has a strong interest in fitness and running, is an avid reader, and enjoys history. He also immensely likes writing and has authored several books. (Dr. Clerc's Canyon Road practice is limited to sleep medicine)
