Franciscan No Longer a Part of Regence Medicare Advantage
Beginning Jan. 1, 2014, Franciscan hospitals and medical group physicians will no longer be part of the Regence Medicare Advantage network.
To continue seeing your Franciscan doctors and specialists you should switch to another plan Franciscan Health System accepts below.
Changes must be made during the Medicare open enrollment period, Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2013.
Medicare Advantage plans accepted by Franciscan for 2014 include:
- Community Health Plan of Washington [HMO]
- Group Health Cooperative [HMO]*
- Humana [HMO, PPO]
- Premera [HMO, HMO-POS] (new for 2014)
- Soundpath Health [HMO] (a plan that is part of the Franciscan family of services)
- Sterling Life Insurance Company [HMO, PPO]
- United Healthcare (including Secure Horizons, Evercare & AARP) [HMO, HMO-SNP]
Franciscan would like to continue serving your health needs. However, patients who stay with the Regence Medicare Advantage plan will be unable to use Franciscan doctors and our hospitals and outpatient services with this coverage in 2014.

Our helpline is operated by MedicareCompareUSA, an independent Medicare specialty insurance agency. Helpline insurance specialists are extensively trained to assist you in the process of matching up Medicare plans to your specific needs, preferences and budget.
When calling the Medicare Insurance Helpline, patients can expect to receive personalized service, unbiased guidance, easy to understand answers to Medicare-related questions, and no pressure or obligation to purchase insurance. The Franciscan Health System receives no financial benefit should you choose to use the Helpline and its staff are paid directly by whichever insurance company is chosen, so there is never a fee to our patients.
Helpline specialists are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. (PST) to answer your questions. In addition, you are also free to contact each Medicare plan directly, work with any authorized agent or to contact Medicare (1-800-MEDICARE or www.medicare.gov) for assistance.
*Only Franciscan primary care providers in the Gig Harbor area are available in the Group Health plan network.
