Robotic Prostatectomy: The New Generation of Prostate Cancer Surgery

Frank ChangaFor men who have early-stage prostate cancer, doctors generally recommend prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate). After careful review, Frank Changa was considered an ideal surgical candidate. He and his surgeon, Anthony Caruso, MD, opted for the minimally invasive, robot-assisted surgical procedure at St. Joseph Medical Center to remove the cancerous gland.

The result has been life-changing.

Frank was in the hospital for less than a day. Since his surgery, he has resumed his busy schedule, which includes keeping up with his children and grandchildren. He can also rest easy knowing that his cancer is gone.

“My PSA level is normal and there’s no trace of cancer,” Frank says. “I feel extremely lucky that the disease was discovered early and that this surgical technique was available.”
