Carole Peet named chief operating officer for St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor
|
Carole Peet, who has extensive experience in healthcare leadership, has been named the chief operating officer for St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, the new Franciscan Health System hospital that opens in February 2009.
She comes to Franciscan from Sutter Coast Hospital, a 59-bed community hospital in Crescent City, Calif. where she served as chief operating officer and assistant administrator for patient care services. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to help open a brand-new hospital and to do so in a community like Gig Harbor that has never had its own hospital,” said Peet, a registered nurse who also holds master’s degrees in nursing and business administration.
Previous to her position at Sutter Coast Hospital, she served as director of cardiac and intensive care services; director of medical/surgical services; director of surgical/cardiac short stay and preadmission testing; and director of gastroenterology and endoscopy center at hospitals in Phoenix, Ariz. and Albuquerque, NM. She began her career as a staff nurse.,

As chief operating officer, she will be the top executive at St. Anthony Hospital, an 80-bed, state-of-the-art facility that will employ as many as 450 people. Patient-focused services and amenities at St. Anthony will include: • 24-hour emergency care • Intensive care • Private patient rooms large enough for a family member to stay overnight with their loved one • Advanced technology • Inpatient and outpatient surgery • Diagnostic imaging, such as MRI, CT scans and ultrasound • Heart catheterization and vascular laboratory • Outpatient cancer care • Physical, speech and occupational therapies • Laboratory • Medical office building for physician offices and other services
Peet holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.; a Master of Science degree in Nursing Administration from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque; and a Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix. She and her family will live in Gig Harbor.
St. Anthony will be the fifth hospital in the Franciscan Health System, a 6,300-employee organization with hospitals and medical clinics in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties.
