The sixth-annual St. Clare Hospital Golf Tournament on Aug. 17 raised approximately $33,000 to help pay for a remodel of the Lakewood community hospital’s busy emergency department.
A total of 132 individuals registered to play in the tournament at the Tacoma Golf & Country Club.
“We are very pleased with the enthusiastic support that this fundraiser receives every year,” said Jon Flora, president of the Franciscan Foundation which organizes the annual golf tournament. “We are also extremely grateful to everyone who participated in the tournament this year and to the many other individuals who volunteered their time to make this event a success for St. Clare Hospital.”
The $1.25 million remodel of the emergency department will double the number of triage rooms, enhance patient privacy, and help ensure that those in the community with urgent medical needs are treated more quickly. The St. Clare Emergency Department receives nearly 50,000 patient visits annually, or an average of 137 patients visits every day.
“We are committed to being the best place to heal and the community’s best health resource,” said Kathy Bressler, president of St. Clare Hospital. “The community’s support of our hospital is needed and deeply appreciated.”
The St. Clare Hospital Golf Tournament had three major sponsors: Murray Pacific Corp., Ricoh Business Systems and Frauenshuh Healthcare Real Estate Solutions. TRA Medical Imaging was the award banquet sponsor. Nike Golf provided the player Tee Prizes.
St. Clare Hospital is part of the Tacoma-based Franciscan Health System, a non-profit organization whose mission is to work toward the creation of healthier communities.
