St. Joseph Medical Center pharmacist named Pharmacist of the Year

Tim Lynch, manager of pharmaceutical services at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, has been named the 2008 Health System Pharmacist of the Year by the Washington State Pharmacy Association (WSPA).

The Pfizer Health System Pharmacist of the Year Award recognizes outstanding pharmacists and their service to the profession and specifically, hospital pharmacy.

“It was very exciting and an honor to be recognized in this way,” says Lynch, who received the award during the professional association’s annual meeting Nov. 7 in Marysville.

Lynch, who is immediate past president of the pharmacy association’s board of directors, has been a member of WSPA for 15 years. He has been employed by Franciscan Health System since June 1997. Additionally, he is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Washington.

Lynch earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington in 1998 and a Master’s degree in health care management and administration from Troy University in 2004.
