St. Clare Hospital nurse is named Pierce County Nurse of the YearGladys Dinglasan, a registered nurse at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood for six years, was recently named the 2005 Pierce County Nurse of the Year by the Pierce County Nurses Association.
“I am honored to have been selected for this award,” she said. “It’s elating when patients tell you that they appreciate what you do, but it’s truly an honor to be recognized by your peers in this way.”
Ms. Dinglasan was nominated for the Nurse of the Year award by her colleagues at St. Clare and other nurses in the county. The award recognizes excellence in nursing and is sponsored annually by the Pierce County Nurses Association, a professional organization affiliated with the Washington State Nurses Association. She was presented the award during a special ceremony in May in Tacoma.
She is the fifth nurse from St. Clare Hospital to receive the Pierce County Nurse of the Year Award within the past six years. Ms. Dinglasan, who is a charge nurse in the Progressive Care Unit, also was the St. Clare Hospital Employee of the Year in 2004.
A registered nurse for 14 years, she lives in Tacoma with her husband and their two young children. St. Clare Hospital, which has approximately 650 employees, is part of Franciscan Health System, a not-for-profit organization that includes St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, and 16 primary-care and specialty-care medical clinics.
