Franciscan Cancer Center Earns Re-Accreditation With Commendation

Franciscan Cancer Center has earned a three year re-accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). Franciscan is the only accredited integrated network in Washington State and one of only 37 cancer centers in the country who have earned this accreditation. (Other Washington State based organizations are certified as Community Cancer Programs.) Of the 1500 programs that apply for re-accreditation, only 49% succeed.

St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma has received state approval to establish a five-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) where critically ill newborns will receive special medical attention.
