Wait One Year

Even when you do everything right during your pregnancy, you may have a pre-term baby. If that happened to you, you are at risk to have another preemie in the future. Things that may reduce this risk include:

  • wait one year before getting pregnant again
  • take folic acid while you wait and during the pregnancy
  • get good dental care
  • reduce your stress
  • don’t smoke

Be sure to visit with your obstetric provider before you get pregnant again. He or she will review your health, medical records, discuss with you what happened during your previous pregnancy, plus advise you about the care you need for the best possible outcome.

We’re here to help
