Silence Whooping Cough Campaign
In 2012, Washington experienced a whooping cough epidemic - with nearly 5,000 reported cases, compared to about 965 cases in 2011. While the number of reported cases is slowing this year, Washington is not immune. The Silence Whooping Cough campaign will educate residents about whooping cough and how to prevent it - especially among the most susceptible to the disease, including pregnant women and newborns.
The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is running a contest to encourage pregnant women and new parents to ask their friends to get vaccinated before visiting. Visit www.silencewhoopingcough.org to enter your name and email for a chance to win a 1-year supply of free diapers!
