Duodenal Switch Weight Loss Surgery

Duodenal switch weight loss surgery reduces the amount of calories absorbed by permanently altering the normal digestive process. Using a stapling device, a segment of the small intestine is divided and re-arranged. Approximately 85% of the stomach is removed creating a sleeve out of the remaining portion. The unused stomach section is removed. The procedure both reduces absorption and limits the amount of food that can be consumed.
