What is transfusion free medicine and surgery?
Transfusion-free medicine and surgery programs focus on minimizing blood loss, as well as salvaging and re-infusing a patient’s own blood, during a medical or surgical procedure. Using a variety of techniques and pharmaceuticals, doctors trained in transfusion-free medicine can essentially use the patient’s own body as a source of blood needed during the procedure.
