What to Expect
Beginning your cancer treatment may seem daunting, but rest assured the Franciscan Cancer Center team is here to help you every step of the way.
Here at Franciscan, we believe you are the most important member of your care team, and your own best advocate. We will always encourage you to ask questions, no matter how big or small they may seem, and share any concerns with your doctors and other team members. And learn* all you can about your disease, treatment options, and how best to nurture yourself with nutrition, physical activity and care of your spirit during this difficult time.
To make yourself as comfortable as possible during your appointments, consider bringing a friend or family member. From your first appointment to your last, we welcome their presence and will support their active participation in your treatment and healing.
Find out what usually happens during first appointments, and how you can prepare yourself for each appointment.
*A word of caution about online research: While much of the information available online today is well-researched and accurate, there is even more that is either somewhat inaccurate or just completely wrong and potentially dangerous. So remember to keep a healthy skepticism, and never hesitate to ask your care team if you have a question.
