Franciscan Library
When you need information to make decisions regarding patient care, improve quality of services, pursue research, or investigate administrative or management issues, the Franciscan Health System Library is here to meet your needs.
The Library is located at St. Joseph Medical Center on the ground floor, South Pavilion, adjacent to the physicians' lounge, see map. There are also small satellite libraries at St. Clare and St. Francis.

Access
The library is staffed Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The library is accessible to FHS staff and physicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Physicians have 24-hour access with an FHS swipe card. FHS employees will be admitted with proper identification by contacting the Security Department if the door is locked. Voicemail and e-mail are available for after hours requests.
Cost
Work-related library services are offered at no charge to FHS physicians and staff. Non work-related projects are done on an as-time-allows basis and will involve a cost recovery fee.

- Literature Searches
The Library offers literature searches in support of work-related projects to FHS physicians and staff. We can access Medline, the Internet, and many different databases to locate the information you need.
- Interlibrary Loans
If an article or book request cannot be filled from within the FHS Library collection, every attempt will be made to obtain it from another library.
- Quick Information/Reference
Need an address, phone number, word spelling or have another question? Call the Library!
- Turn-around Time
Every effort will be made to accommodate your time requirements. Literature searches involving patient care issues are given priority. Document delivery for items not owned by FHS may take up to one week, but alternative delivery methods are available to meet clinical emergencies.
- Current Awareness
Articles and tables of contents from publications in your area of interest can be regularly routed to you.
- Borrowing Privileges
FHS staff and physicians may borrow books, journals and videotapes for 2 weeks. Exceptions include reference texts and the current month issues of journals, which may be used only in the Library. Library materials may be renewed by phone, mail, or in person.

The FHS Library system subscribes to over 100 journals in the areas of medicine, nursing and health administration.

Library videotapes may be accessed through the library catalog.

We have a computer available to FHS physicians and staff to access information in support of work-related projects.
