Infant Safety/CPR

For parents, parents-to-be, grandparents, babysitters and anyone who is around children. Learn resuscitation techniques and practical tips for making your home safe for children.

Cost: $50 person / $60 couple

FREE! Car Seat Inspection

Estimates are that 9 out of 10 car seats are improperly installed. A properly installed car seat can greatly reduce the chance of injury or fatality in the event of a crash.  Certified Car Seat Technicians will work with your family to ensure that:

  • Your child is in the appropriate seat
  • The seat has not been recalled
  • The seat is properly installed

Safe Sitter

Babysitter training program designed to prepare adolescents to provide child care skills, including how to handle emergencies. This one-day, seven-hour course can be taught at your site.

Cost: $55/person

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent

This six-week class is a practical guide to teaching children responsibility through love and logic. Learn sound strategies and specific "how -to's," not theoretical concepts. Can be taught at your site.

Cost: $60 person / $100 couple

Fire Stoppers Program

This program, presented by the Tacoma Firefighters, was developed to provide guidance to families with children who engage in fire setting activities. Fire and life safety education, along with risk assessment and counseling, are provided free of charge to any resident of Pierce County.

Think First School Assemblies

Our Think First assemblies are part of a statewide spinal cord and brain injury prevention program aimed at elementary, junior high and high school students. These 45-55 minute assemblies feature injured speakers talking candidly about the physical, social and emotional aspects of their injuries. Topics include drinking and driving, bicycle safety, helmets, guns and violence, and seat belts.
