Preceptor Biographies
Timothy W. Lynch is the Regional Director of Pharmacy for Franciscan Health System as well as the Residency Director. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1998 and his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree in 1997 from the University of Washington. Tim completed a Masters of Science in Management from Troy University in 2004. He completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in 1998. Tim is a graduate of the ASHP-Boston University Pharmacy Leadership Institute. He also completed a fellowship in hospital leadership from the Advisory Board Company. Tim received the Washington State Pharmacist of the year award in 2008 and the Lou Wakefield/Kirk Clyne Medication Safety award in 2006. He is an affiliate Assistant Professor for the University of Washington School of pharmacy, current member of the Washington State Pharmacy Association (WSPA) and former President of WSPA as well as a member of ACHE, and ASHP, participating currently as a member of the section advisory group for Pharmacy Informatics.
Michael J. Bonck is Manager of Regional Pharmaceutical Quality, Information and Technology Services for Franciscan Health-Services. After earning his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Gonzaga in 1974, he received his B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington in 1979. Major areas of expertise include budget development and monitoring, contracting and CQI methods. Mike has a faculty appointment at the University of Washington. He has presented at local and national pharmacy meetings. He is an active member of SPSSHP, WSPA, ASHP and is a member of ASPEN and APhA.
Venita Papillion is the FHS Regional Clinical Manager. She completed her Bachelor degree at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma and received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University College of Pharmacy in New Orleans, Louisiana. Venita completed her PGY1 residency at the VA Puget Sound in Seattle. She has returned to FHS where she previously was Critical Care Pharmacy Specialist. Venita has been Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans and has been the Director of Pharmacy in Lafayette, LA and Dallas, Texas.
Keith Sinay graduated from Washington State University and is the Ambulatory manager of three retail sites, Pharmacy Hospice and Care Center, and Pharmacy clinics. He comes to Franciscan with a long career in retail management and most recently from long-term care where he was Operations Manager for one of the largest long-term care pharmacies on the West Coast.
Jeff Armentrout received his B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa. Jeff has been Assistant Pharmacy Director at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital in Davenport, Iowa; and Pharmacy Director at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington and Lakewood General Hospital in Lakewood, Washington. Jeff is currently Pharmacy Manager at St. Clare Hospital, Lakewood, Washington. Jeff created and currently co-chairs a regional FHS medication process improvement committee and has made local and national presentations on its achievements. He holds memberships in both ASHP and WSPA.
Mark Stever received his B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington in 1991. He completed his MBA in Health Care Management from Western Governor’s University in 2011. Mark has been Director of Pharmacy at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker City, Oregon; and Pharmacy Operations Manager and Interim Director at Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. He is currently Pharmaceutical Services Manager at St. Francis Hospital, Federal Way, Washington. He holds memberships in both ASHP and WSPA.
Jeff Tichenor is Pharmaceutical Services Operations Manager at Saint Anthony Hospital. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Ferris State University in 2007. Jeff completed his Pharmacy Practice Residency at Saint Joseph Medical Center in 2008. He is a member of the Saint Anthony Hospital Quality Council, FHS Regional Evidence Based Practice Task Force for Pain Management, the WSPA Health Systems Academy, and ASHP.
Cindy Wilson is Pharmaceutical Services Operations Manager at St. Joseph Medical Center. She received her B.S. Degree in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Washington State University. Cindy previously Pharmaceutical Services Operations Manager at St. Anthony Hospital, Supervisor of Inpatient Pharmacy Services at Harborview Medical Center and Residency Program Coordinator at UW Medicine. She is an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington. She holds memberships in both ASHP and WSPA and serves on the WSPA Board of Directors.
Jennifer Bilsing is one of the ED pharmacists and co-preceptor at St. Francis Hospital. Jennifer earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming in 2005. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Franciscan Health System in 2006. Jennifer is an active member of the ED Core Group. She is also a member of ASHP and WSPA.
Jamie Casanova is an Internal Medicine Specialist at St. Joseph Medical Center and a co-preceptor of the Internal Medicine and Cardiology rotations. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington in 2003. Jamie completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in 2004. She is a member of ASHP.
Tony Casanova is one of the ED Specialist pharmacists at St. Joseph Medical Center. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 2004 from South Dakota State University. Tony completed a Pharmacy Practice residency at Franciscan Health System in 2005. Tony is a faculty member at Washington State University. He is an active member of ASHP and sits on the ED Section Advisory Panel. He has published and presented nationally on the topics of ED pharmacy and Anticoagulation Therapeutics.
Helen Chong is the Hospice and Palliative Care Pharmacist and a co-preceptor of the Hospice rotation. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington in 2006. Helen completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in 2007. She utilizes the prescriptive protocols, attends rounds, and provides pain management lectures for the nurses to help manage patient symptoms She is a member of ASHP.
Erin Edwards is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 residency at FHS in 2006 and has worked at St. Joseph Hospital since that time. Erin currently is the evening shift emergency department preceptor.
Greg Failla has been an Emergency Department Pharmacist at St. Joseph Medical Center since February of 2009. He completed his undergraduate training in western Nebraska and received his PharmD at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy in 2006. Greg’s career in medicine began in 1991 with college education in pre-med. He then trained as a paramedic at Creighton University. Greg spent the next 9 years as a field paramedic and in emergency medical management in several cities across the United States including Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, Phoenix, AZ, and Houston, TX. During this time, he was deployed to natural disasters with an Emergency Response Team, was the Medical Team Specialist for Nebraska Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team, and was trained in confined space/collapsed structure rescue. In 2002, Greg enrolled in pharmacy school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After graduation in 2006, Greg worked in retail pharmacy management as the Pharmacist In Charge for an independent pharmacy until early 2009. Greg returned to his roots in emergency medicine, and became one of a small group of clinical pharmacists who practice solely in the Emergency Room. This unique practice setting allows the pharmacist and students to engage in direct, hands-on, patient care for frequently some of the sickest and most injured patients seen in our health care systems.
Ferowsi Fernandez is the Oncology Specialist Pharmacist at St. Joseph Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Washington State University in 2001. Ferowsi completed a Pharmacy Practice residency at Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup, WA in 2002. She is a facilitator at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy and is an active member of WSPA, ASHP and ACCP.
Yee Wah Fong earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Washington State University in 2007 and completed a pharmacy practice residency in 2008 at Valley Medical Center. Yee Wah works in the Emergency Department at St Clare and is the other preceptor for the Emergency Department rotation. She is a member of ASHP.
Keith Fongemie is the Internal Medicine Pharmacy Specialist at St. Clare Hospital. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Washington and an MBA. Keith has precepted many residents and students in Internal Medicine and is an active member of the Medicine Core Group.
Teresa Blanc Harberg is Supervisor of Clinical Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. She received her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Washington State University in 1991. In addition to overseeing the FHS anticoagulation clinics, Teresa has experience in retail pharmacy as well as LTC consulting pharmacy. She was awarded the 2010 Preceptor of the Year award from Pacific University and serves as a primary preceptor for the ambulatory care rotation.
Justin Jellison is the Infectious Disease preceptor at St. Joseph Medical Center. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Washington State University in 2006. Justin completed his Pharmacy Practice Residency at Southwest Medical Center in 2007. He is a member of the Infectious Disease Core Group where he is developing our antibiotic stewardship program.
Marcia Kajimura-Beck received her B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington and joined St. Joseph Medical Center in 1985. She is the primary preceptor for Mental Health and also precepts students in Oncology and Nephrology. Marcia co-chairs the Alternative Medicine Committee and precepted a prevalence survey of alternative medications. Professional memberships include ASHP and WSPA.
Michael Lindgren is the Pharmacy Coordinator for Franciscan Hospice. Michael earned his BS degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in 1987. As the Pharmacy coordinator for Franciscan Hospice, Michael has developed the following programs: Home Delivery of Medications, Compounded Specialty Medications, Prescriptive Protocols for Comfort Kits and Pain Management, processes for the review of patient medication profiles, and participates in the development of the patient’s plan of care. Michael is a member of the Washington State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
Seth Meisner is an Internal Medicine Specialist at St. Joseph Medical Center and a co-preceptor of the Internal Medicine and Cardiology rotations. Seth earned a Bachelor of Science in 1999 and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2003 from Washington State University. He completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency in 2004 at St. Joseph Medical Center. He is a member of ASHP.
Ben Michaels is the Internal Medicine Specialist at St. Francis Hospital. He received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Washington in 1997. He is the chairman of the Infectious Disease core group in the Franciscan system. Professional affiliations include WSPA and ASHP. He is also the president of the UW Pharmacy alumni association.
Joshua Miller graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2006. After graduating he completed a residency with the Franciscan Health System. Joshua currently is an emergency department pharmacist at St. Francis Hospital.
Matt Murray received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Washington State University College of Pharmacy in 2003. He is the ED Specialist at St Clare Hospital. Matt has past experience in oncology, anticoagulation and internal medicine.
Ferowsi Pecoraro is the Oncology Specialist Pharmacist at St. Joseph Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Washington State University in 2001. Ferowsi completed a Pharmacy Practice residency at Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup, WA in 2002. She is a facilitator at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy and is an active member of WSPA, ASHP and ACCP.
Kristin Peterson received her B.S. in Pharmacy in 1997 and her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1998, both from the University of Washington. She also completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the VA in Seattle in 1998. She has worked for St. Joseph Medical Center since 1998 and currently is the Lead Clinic Pharmacist for the Ambulatory team. Kristin is one of the primary preceptors for the Ambulatory rotation and also heads the multi-site Anticoagulation Clinics.
Gail L. Scott is a pharmacist at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Washington in 1973. Gail is a preceptor for interns, externs and residents at St. Joseph Medical Center. She is an active member of the FHS Pharmaceutical Services Medicine Core Group. Gail was a Home Infusion Specialist with Franciscan Home Infusion for 14 years specializing in nutritional support, pain management and oncology care in the home. Gail is an active member of ASHP.
Emily Strovink is an Internal Medicine Specialist at St. Anthony Hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota. Emily completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in 2010. She is currently primary preceptor for the Internal Medicine rotation at St. Anthony Hospital.
Scott Takara received his B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He also completed an ASHP accredited residency at St. Joseph Medical Center. Scott holds membership in SLCM and ASHP. He is a co-preceptor for the Critical Care and Infectious Disease rotations.
Julia Tichenor received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Ferris State University and completed a residency at Franciscan Health System. She has had experience as an Oncology pharmacist at St. Joseph Medical Center and now practices as an ED pharmacist. Julia also precepts students and residents in Infectious Disease.
