A Letter to Franciscan Family and Friends
Our organization has been essential to the quality of life in the South Puget Sound since 1891 when the Sisters of St. Francis established St. Joseph Medical Center, the flagship hospital of the Franciscan Health System.
In this Report to the Community for fiscal year 2011 (July 2010-June 2011), you will see how our core values of reverence, integrity, compassion and excellence distinguish the Franciscan organization.
Guided by our mission to create healthier communities, Franciscan has become the South Sound's health care leader. Commitment to excellence – and to healing mind, body and spirit – resonates throughout all our hospitals, outpatient centers, medical clinics and other care settings. I am incredibly proud of the Franciscan Family's extraordinary achievements in these difficult times.
This past year brought some of the most challenging conditions for the delivery of health care ever seen, locally and across the nation. With a continuing weak economy, spending cuts by state and federal government, and reform initiatives, the health care landscape will continue to evolve.
We are focused on providing the right care, at the right time and in the right place, and increasing operational efficiency. The Franciscan organization's enduring mission is our roadmap. Our commitment to our mission is unwavering.
