Chief Nursing Officer
Laurie Brown has served as the chief nursing officer for the Franciscan Health System since July 2008.
She joined the organization more than 25 years ago. During that time, she has held progressive nursing leadership roles, including charge nurse, nurse manager, regional director of care management, and interim president of St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor.
As the chief nursing officer, Brown provides strategic direction for the practice of nursing at the five-hospital health system. She also is the executive in charge of Franciscan’s oncology service line, care management program, and clinical informatics.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Washington State University Intercollegiate Center of Nursing and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Washington-Tacoma School of Nursing. Since 2005, she has served as clinical faculty for the school’s Nursing and Healthcare Leadership program and is a frequent guest lecturer.
Brown is a member of the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives; the American Organization of Nurse Executives; the American Case Management Association; The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International; and the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.
She is also a fellow of the Health Care Advisory Board.
