Cliff A. Robertson, MD, MBA
Chief Operating Officer
Cliff Robertson, MD, has served as the chief operating officer of the Franciscan Health System since March 2009.
He joined the organization in July 1995 as a family physician. He was named president and chief medical officer of the Franciscan Medical Group network of primary-care and specialty-care clinics, physicians and other professional providers in 1999 and served in that role for 10 years. The medical group became one of the premier multi-specialty physician networks in the Pacific Northwest under his leadership.
Dr. Robertson also has more than 15 years of business leadership experience, both in health care and as the chief executive officer of a private business franchise.
He earned a degree in medicine from Ohio State College of Medicine in Columbus and completed both his residency and internship in family practice at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. Dr. Robertson also has a master’s degree in business administration from Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Wash.
He serves on several community and civic boards, including the boards of directors for Tacoma Goodwill Industries and The Geneva Foundation. He is a member of the Washington State Hospital Association Board of Trustees and Carena, Inc. Board of Directors. His professional affiliations include The Healthcare Roundtable for Chief Operating Officers; Washington State Medical Association; King County Healthcare Coalition; and the Pierce County Medical Society. Dr. Robertson is also a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum-Tacoma chapter.
